Wellington is a small sized city located in New Zealand. The city is the capital of New Zealand and have low business and tourism ratings that often range from between 100 and 200 each. The business ratings are usually slightly lower than the tourism ratings. This city is only available in Air Tycoon Online 2.
Wellington is a very bad city to run operations out of. Players are strongly recommended to avoid this city as a hub whenever possible as the city has many disadvantages. Firstly, low ratings will definitely limit profits out of almost every route from this city. In addition, despite having very little to no competition, routes with competitors cannot be well sustained by this city due to the low ratings. Plus, The city is in one of the most isolated in the world as profitable short range flights are very rare (e.g. Sydney and Nadi). While players can try to connect to cities in Asia (e.g. Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Hong Kong), these flights will require long range planes, which are expensive and are often not worth using for routes to a city with low ratings. Players are advised to limit first and business seats on passenger flights to Wellington due to the low business ratings.
Wellington International Airport is often empty and will usually never get upgraded from its initial status of level 2 due to its unpopularity with players. This lack of demand for slots also makes additional airports unnecessary and a waste of credits and cash. Hence, players are advised to avoid building or buying any airports in this city at all times.
Large capacity and expensive long ranged planes are never recommended in this city due to the high depreciation rates that comes with these planes. When flying to large cities, medium capacity planes such as the Boeing 767, Airbus A310 and the Lockheed L-1011. Flights to small and medium sized cities are best serviced by small capacity planes such as the Boeing 737, Airbus A310 and the Bombardier CSeries.
