Novosibirsk is a small to medium sized city located around the central portion of Russia. The city has low tourism ratings that range from between 100 and 150, but have higher business ratings that fall in the moderate range of around 150 and 200.
The default airport here is Tolmachevo Airport (OVB).
Novosibirsk is a relatively well known city among players as an alternative city to fly to from large cities especially due to cargo. The city experiences light to mild competition, but players should bear in mind that the city will face issues trying to sustain it. Beginners are not advised to start here as the lukewarm ratings do not promote the growth of an airline and limited profits may make it difficult for inexperienced players to expand the company value and operations. Novosibirsk's location is an asset, however, as the city can be connected to many profitable cities in Asia (e.g. Beijing, Seoul and Chengdu) and Europe (e.g. Moscow, Athens and Rome). Players should always bear in mind that as with many medium sized cities, Novosibirsk acts best as a destination rather than as a hub of operations.
Tolmachevo Airport will usually never achieve a status beyond a level 3. This is due to a relatively weak demand for slots in the city, making it a poor choice to own from the national government. This weak demand also means additional airports are pointless and futile and players are advised to never contemplate on the idea of building airports in the city too.
Like most medium sized cities, flights to large cities, cargo or passenger, are best served by medium capacity planes, Examples include the Boeing 757, Airbus A310 and the Ilyushin IL-76. When flying to small and medium sized cities, players are advised to use small capacity planes such as the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and the Tupolev Tu-104. Large capacity planes are not recommended as these aircraft frequently come with high maintenance costs as well as depreciation rates. These are best avoided in order to help preserve company value.
