Madrid is a large city located in Spain. The city has medium-high ratings that range from 150 to 250. Tourism ratings are often higher than business ratings.
Airport
The default airport here is Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD).
Strategy
Madrid is a relatively good city to open your hub in. It has very good connection opportunities to major American cities such as Denver, San Francisco, etc. as well as to European cities such as Paris, Munich, etc. Generally though, it would be better to open monopoly routes to other medium-sized cities than to try to compete, although the city can sustain moderate competition.
Madrid-Barajas Airport will often achieve maximum slot usage, but this will happen very late in-game (around the late 2000s decade). For this reason, buying the airport may be a good choice. Additional airports will not achieve a status higher than Level 1 or 2 and should not be built.
On Trans-Atlantic routes to American cities, planes such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747 are generally best. Medium sized planes such as the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 are best for routes to mid-sized or short-range routes. Small planes are discouraged as they will depreciate value.
