Las Vegas is a large city located in the south-western portion of USA. The city has very high tourism ratings that often exceeds 300 or above. Business ratings are lower and often range from between 150 and 220. Las Vegas is one of the few cities to receive the "Rising Tour Destination" News Report and its ratings soon afterwards will increase greatly.

Strategy

Initially Las Vegas has low business and tourism ratings that often do not exceed 150 each. This causes players to avoid using this city as an initial hub. All will change, however, once the News Report is announced and the ratings will rise dramatically, especially the tourism rating. Airlines will soon flock to this city when the tourism ratings exceeds 200 or above and, thus, creating competition. Nonetheless, the competition is usually moderate and the city can sustain it. Las Vegas does have one significant flaw for any airline starting here. It's location is not very favourable as although there are plenty to destinations to choose from to the east of the city (e.g. New York, Atlanta and Miami), there are few cities to fly to to the west of Las Vegas. This can be overcome with appropriate long range planes or stopovers and flights to cities in Europe (e.g. London and Amsterdam), Asia (e.g. Tokyo and Guangzhou) and South America (e.g. Lima and Santiago) becomes possible. Beginners are neither advised or discouraged to start here, but players must consider the pros and cons of this city carefully if they wish to make this place their first hub.

McCarran International Airport will usually attain maximum slot capacity, but this often happens late into the game. (i.e. in the 2000s or 2010s). This makes the airport a somewhat good choice to buy over from the national government. But once the airport attains a level 8 status, the impact from the profits of the airport will usually be insignificant in raising company value since a level 8 status is usually attained after the year 2000. Additional airports are often unnecessary as the primary airport is enough to meet the demand for slots in the city and players are recommended not to build a second or a third airport in Las Vegas.

The city's high tourism rating makes this place a very popular place to run passenger operations. To beat the competition while making the most profits when flying to large cities, large capacity passenger planes with high satisfaction like the Airbus A380, Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 are recommended. For flights to small and medium sized cities, players should use medium capacity aircraft like the Boeing 767, Airbus A310 and the Lockheed L-1011 to ensure maximum profit. Avoid small capacity planes as this can lead to depreciation when multiple planes are needed to service one route. Cargo operations are less popular due to the lower business ratings, but the routes can still generate a decent income with the right planes. For cargo flights to any cities, small and medium capacity planes like the Boeing 737F, Airbus A310F and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30F are recommended.
