Lagos is a medium sized city located in Nigeria. The city has moderate to high business and tourism ratings that range from between 150 and 250 each.
The default airport in the city is Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS).
Lagos one of Africa's better cities to for airlines tor run operations out of. Whether it is cargo or passenger, airlines are free to make countless routes out of Lagos and make decent and sustainable profits. It's location in West Africa gives it a big advantage as profitable connections are possible to continents in Africa (e.g. Johannesburg and Cairo), Europe (e.g. Rome and Barcelona), North America (e.g. Miami and Houston) and also South America (e.g. Sao Paulo and Santiago). Reasonably good ratings and its great location makes it very attractive for many airlines to fly to and this generates significant competition. Sometimes, the amount of competition can be more than what the city can handle and this restricts the number of routes a player can make in order to run sustainable operations. Nevertheless, beginners are permitted, but not encouraged, to make this place their initial hub as the good ratings can help the airline grow, but players must be on the lookout for competition and avoid it whenever possible.
Murtala Muhammed International Airport will usually not get upgraded beyond a status of a level 3 or 4. This makes the airport a bad investment of credits when purchasing it from the national government due to earning very limited profits for the owner. Because the principal airport is more than enough to meet the demand for slots in the city, additional airports in Lagos should not be considered unless the player wishes to privatise it for his or her own personal use.
Medium to large capacity aircraft are recommended when flying to large cities in or out of Lagos. Good examples include the McDonnell Douglas DC-10, Airbus A300, Ilyushin IL-96 and the Boeing 787. When flying to medium sized cities, medium capacity aircraft such as the Boeing 757, Airbus A310 and the Lockheed L-1011 should service these routes while routes to small sized cities are best serviced with small capacity planes like the Boeing 737, Bombardier CSeries and the Comac C919. Very large capacity aircraft are not advised due to the planes having a high depreciation rate that routes out of the city may not be able to cope with even during peak months of travel in the game.
- The airport is named after General Murtala Ramat Muhammad, a Nigerian head of state from 1975 until his assassination 1976. He was assassinated while en route to his office in Lagos.
