Due to its mediocre ratings, it is generally not the best idea to start your first hub in Hamburg. The city is in a great location in Europe, with many routes available to European cities such as London, Frankfurt, and Barcelona, along with many good routes to North America such as Boston and Atlanta. Generally, it is best to operate monopoly routes to medium sized cities as the city can only sustain mild competition.
Hamburg Airport will usually achieve a status of Level 5 or 6 by the end of the game. For this reason, it is not recommended to buy this airport from the national government as better alternatives exist elsewhere. Additional airports should not be built as they are a waste of cash and credits.
The best airplanes to fly out of Hamburg are mid-sized airplanes such as the Boeing 757, Ilyushin IL-86, Airbus A300, although large planes can be used, they will often not be full due to the ratings in the city. Small planes such as the Airbus A320 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 should be used to other medium-sized cities in Europe and elsewhere
