Freeport is a small city located in the Bahamas. The city has very low business ratings that never exceeds 100 and often falls below 50. Tourism ratings are higher and range from between 100 and 150.

Airport

The default airport here is Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO).

Trivia

Unlike most airports, Grand Bahama International Airport is privately owned rather than the national government. The airport is a joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and The Port Group (or the Grand Bahama Port Authority).

Strategy

Competition in this city is virtually non-existent due to the city's unpopularity with players. Low ratings greatly limit profits out of this city. Cargo flights are never recommended, although passenger routes are still possible and sustainable. Freeport also does not have the ability to sustain any form of competition and players have to be prepared to close routes should it become unprofitable, though this may not be necessary considering the fact that many airlines would not think of flying here. The city does have one plus point and that is its location. Profitable routes can come from making flights to large cities in North America (e.g. Toronto, Seattle and Denver) and South America (e.g. Lima, Sao Paulo and Santiago).

Grand Bahama International Airport will usually never upgrade beyond its initial status of level 2 due to the city's unpopularity. As such, any additional airports are rendered useless in this city. Hence, players should never consider building or buying airports in Freeport if they value credits as better options exist elsewhere.

Long ranged planes to and from Freeport is not recommended due to the high costs of these aircraft and such routes are often unworthy of it. For flights to large cities, medium capacity planes are great options and examples include the Boeing 767, Lockheed L-1011 and the Tupolev Tu-154. Flying to small and medium sized cities are not recommended, but if a player still wishes to do so, small capacity planes are best used. Good examples include the Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and the Ilyushin IL-18D. Large capacity planes are strongly not advised as excess room makes no money. Such aircraft comes with high maintenance costs in which the profits from the route may not be able to cover. This will lead to depreciation of the airline.
