Anchorage is a small to medium sized city located in the state of Alaska, USA. It is the only airport in the game for the entire Alaska state. The city has moderate to high business ratings that range from 180 to 250, but have low tourism ratings that usually hovers around 100 or less.
The default airport here is Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).
The airport is named in honour of an Alaskan U.S. Senator, Ted Stevens. He served as a Senator from 1968 to 2009, making him the longest-serving Republican Senator in history. Stevens died in a plane crash while flying to a private fishing lodge on August 9, 2010.
Due to it's isolated location and low ratings, starting here is highly not recommended, even for more experienced players. Passenger revenue out of this airport will be limited despite the near absence of competition unless it is to large cities. Cargo routes generally fare better and is even a popular place to fly to. However, if the route has more than one competitor, it is best to abandon the route as the city's low business ratings renders it unable to sustain moderate to intense competition.
The city's main airport almost never achieves maximum slot usage capacity. This makes the facilities quite cheap, but it makes the airport a poor choice to buy over. Secondary airports should not be built here as well as it is almost always unnecessary and the returns are almost never will worth it.
It's remote but strategic position between North America and East Asia allows it to be connected to several large cities in both continents with the right planes. Routes can even fly across the Arctic to reach European cities like London and Moscow. A popular use of this city is as a stopover between Asia and America. Recommended cargo planes include the Airbus A310F and the Boeing 767-300F. Passenger planes used can be of any range, but should have small to medium capacity of around 200 to 400 seats. An example would be the Boeing 767-200.
